Diamond in the Rough

Just when I think it’s not worth getting up early on Saturday morning…I’m usually glad I drug myself out of bed to go yard saling. There were only two sales advertised in the paper, so I had decided to sleep in the night before. But I just couldn’t help but think what I might miss. You know by now, I’m a fan of the old, rare, and/or unusual. I’m always looking for that particular piece. I will know it is special because it speaks to me. Yes, it’s true…the chosen item screams, “Jessica!” One of the first and only sales I went to was not too promising. I thought great…this is what I got up for…some little boy’s pokemon memorabilia. BUT as I approached the seller’s garage, there it was…an old chest of drawers, my diamond in the rough, glowing like the Griswold’s family Christmas tree! LOLs.

I nonchalantly asked the seller how much for the piece. She proceeded to tell me how she paid a lot for it, and it was really old. I thought, oh great, she’s not going to work with me at all. She finally got down to $40. Now, I do not usually spend that much. I mean, as a bargain queen, I had to really think about that. So, I walked away and left. I was going to do some free styling; and then if it was there when I got back, it was meant to be.

Well, as the morning went by with absolutely no success, I couldn’t stop thinking about the unique piece of furniture. I already had a million ideas of what I could do with it. Pinterest can be very dangerous for creative people! Ha, ha. So I rushed back to the first sale. Was it going to still be there? I couldn’t get there fast enough.

Well, as you can tell, it was still there! The seller was a pretty tough negotiator. I was able to get it for $30. I think it will be a good investment and will be a beautiful addition to my interior design dreams! Thanks for checking out today’s vintage treasure blog! Make sure you come back and visit on a regular basis. Whether I’m on a rural photo shoot or hitting the yard sales…you never know what I’m going to find!
